Part 1

Lockie moves to a new town:

I have just finished the first section of the book "Lockie Leonard, Human Torpedo" by Tim Winton. So far it’s a bit sad with Lockie moving to a new town where he doesn’t know anyone. He was bullied on his first day of school and even had problems with his teachers. Things might be looking up though as he has met a girl called Vicki. She is the smartest girl in school, and he thinks she has breasts like ‘iced buns’, and wears jeans that are good enough to eat!

I don’t really like Lockie’s family much because they don’t seem to understand his problems. They are as annoying as chewy stuck on your shoe! Even his teachers seem rather nasty.  There is one character that I like, and that is the guidance teacher, Mr. East, I think he will turn out to be a good guy. He is kind, like an old family friend.

I think Lockie might end up running away from home if people don’t start treating him a bit better, and I hope that his little brother Phillip stops peeing the bed because this must be a pain in the bum for Lockie to have to clean up every morning!

The books deal with teen social issues such as bullying, sex, and puberty. I have experienced bullying myself, and as far as puberty goes I have had a huge growth spurt which isn’t as great as everyone might think!
